I’m sure you all know this little addictive title. The game was simple. You’re a frog (hence the title Frogger) and you need to get to your hiding place. To do that you need to cross the street and a river.
Crossing the street means avoid getting run over by moving vehicles. Crossing the river means you need to hop from turtles, to logs in order to reach the safe haven on the other side. If there’s a fly inside you’ll get additional score, but if there’s a wolf inside you’ll get eaten.
If you hit anything (the wall or a car) you die. If you stay on turtles for too long they’ll submerge and you’ll drown (same thing if you simply jump in the water). You’re obviously a non-swimming frog. You can however collect little frogs on tree logs. That can even get you an extra life.
Once all the empty spaces on the other side are filled, you’ll move on to the next level. The cars are faster, there are crocs swimming in the river (careful not to jump in one’s mouth) and later on ever worms appear, that chase you all over the place. So good luck getting pass level 6.
The tune in the background is just as addictive as the game, but the controls are strange. You have the A/Z to move up and down and ’/` to move left and right. Now it’s time to finally have some fun!
You need to slow DOSBox down to under 200 cycles in order to play.
