Did you know that MicroProse Soccer was launched at first in the 1989 for Amiga and Commodore? After the great success it achieved, the game was made for DOS, too. All of this happened many years ago, when most of you were not born yet.
But let us talk about the game itself now. This game was somewhat different from other soccer games made in that time. You are completely wrong if you think that you have another sports management game here. MicroProse Soccer is only about shooting, dribbling and scoring! You can choose between playing an indoor and an outdoor game. You play the first one with five players, the second one with eleven players.
You can play alone or with a friend, and you can choose between using keyboard or joystick. The pitch is viewed from the top and you can control the ball in all directions. In the game you control one player, and switching between team players can be manual or automatic. You can choose a lot of types of tournaments and leagues, even the World Cup Finals. But there is no big difference in playing those variants of soccer competitions. Possession is conquest by running into a loose ball or tackling the player with the ball.
You should use DOSBox to play this game. At the beginning you need to choose whether you want to have the EGA, CGA or TANDY graphics in the DOSBox config.
