Dear Abandonia visitors: Help us keep Abandonia free with a small donation. Abandonia is like an old gaming arcade with only original games. Abandonia helps you have fun four hours and years. If Abandonia is useful to you, please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still keeping the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

background details

Banpresto, the name, was created in 1989. However, the company had existed with different names since April 1977. Back then it was known as Hoei Sangyo Co., Ltd. and located in Tokyo, Japan. Hoei Sangyo manufactured and sold arcade video games and earned an initial income of 5 million yen their first year.

Then in June 1982 they changed their name to Coreland Technology Co., Ltd.

9 years after their birth, the company could harvest a mindblowing income of 70 million yen in 1986. Which by todays standard would equal... a lot!

Then in 1989 the name Banpresto was created as a direct result of the company becoming a subsidiary of Bandai Co., Ltd.

But the money making days of Banpresto was not over. Just that same year, they had earned 300 million yen. So the next year they started to invest a lot of their money in new toy creations, video games and amusement machines. This proved to be a huge success, increasing their capital to 1.400 million yen by 1992. With so much money on their hands, they decided to open their own Amusement Park, "Tokyo Gulliver, Matsudo" in November that year. They also established Santowa Co., Ltd. (current name Banwave Co., Ltd.) as their sales agent.

Then in 1994 they established Banpre Kikaku Co., Ltd. (current name Banpresoft Co., Ltd.) as a home video software developer. And also aquired Unifive Co., Ltd.

In 2000 their finances was 2 billion yen, but only next year could they report an earning of 3,1 billion yen. And in 2004, their subsidiary, Hanayashiki Co., Ltd., started operating the amusement park Asakusa Hanayashiki.

As you might have understood, Banpresto has their hands in any form of entertainment they can think of, and is doing a superb job at it!
