yoga's Winamp problem
Hi, there,
I am using Winamp from many years. Playing games I like to hear the music. It relaxes me. Nice. I am using the Classical view of the program. But even with the last version 5.623 I meet the next problem: I am unable to sort for example my 2600 songs by title. I press the next buttons: - Misc - Sort list - Sort list by title OK. Some part of list is sorted, but when I start to move mouse through the list, new, non sorted songs appeared! Rats! Note: This problem does not exist when i use 100-200 songs. I do not like Windows Media player playing lists. Yes, this problem is not fatal, but...

Probably it's just because it's so many titles in a list, might be running out of memory. What you could try is start the Task Manager, go to Processes tab, right-click on the WinAmp process and set it to high priority. Maybe that could help.
Otherwise try to reduce a list a bit, split the songs in different, smaller lists that are oriented by some kind of cathegory. |

it's simpler. Check your settings. It is third entry in options for me, named "Song Titles". You can load song titles from tags either immediately (longer) or as you plays/view it (faster). In second (your) case it's totally good, but only while you doesn't try to manipulate this titles. I.e. sort it. Winamp sorts only known songs and ignores others. Of course, as you see it in list, Winamp loads it too (and it's visible . After that it able to sort it out.
It's easy to spot by playing time in the bottom of playlist. If Winamp knows all list, it shows XXX/YYY, where it's song time/total time. If only partial list known, it shows XXX/YYY+ (like 3:00/16:15:00+). You can scroll all list up to down, and it will be loaded before your eyes. But I recommend to set winamp to "load all titles", sort it, then save it as playlist. In that case Winamp will remember it. After that you can revert it to "recommended" settings. |

Still no..
Hi, again,
Here is my answer: @Master - I strictly followed Your instruction and entered Task Manager. The present priority of Winamp program was Normal. I check to High priority and restart my PC. My RAM is 1.5 GB. Sorry, no positive result. @Smiling Spectre - Would be so kind and give more info? I am unable to find "Song Titles".. My Winamp is the last version available. To help You I am showing my Winamp. Herewith I enclosed my Winamp in action. I am using the Classical view as You may see. The songs are 2470. I pressed Right mouse button on the working above window of the program ..then You can see my actions.

On your shown screenshot it will be "Preferences". And then "my" entry will be third first-level entry in menu "Common" at left. (First two entries named "File Types" and "Playlist", and third - needed "Song Titles"). P.S. And yes, "166:54:57+" at the bottom of playlist means "you have non-classified songs in list". |

Hurray!
Done, dear Smiling Spectre! The problem from 10 years is solved at last.. Great. Now I have perfect playing list and 2400 songs are sorted by their names. Some gentleman may said: - Why, you, stupid yoga wants so much this kind of sorting? To listen randomized listing is better because you do now know what song is the next. stupid yoga -- Yeeees, Sir. Correct. But because I created my listing from many different music directories I do not know what songs are in this playing list. Now having correct sorted songs i realized that i have about 150 duplicate songs which were invisible in chaotic playing list.. Thats why. Dear Smiling Spectre, I have no words in English to express my gratitude. So with kind permission of our nice Mod i will thank YOU using your native language: Бог с тобой! (God be with you!) Ни пуха, ни пера! (Non translated words - Y'now every lang has similar words).

[quote=Smiling Spectre;440963]Actually, when you have sorted list, you still can randomize it. In play menu, not in list. I prefer this sort of randomizing.
Yes, I know and use that option. Conc. my translations YOU are correct again. Anyway a humble Bulgarian knowledge of this nice Russian lang of famous Pushkin is not as this of native like YOU. That's why brave yoga visited every day AB site. Because of friendly and nice people (hmmm.. with some little exception, which starts with letter D ) OFF I still can not pass through this fuc*ed ram head in my Dungeon Master 2... Blood in my hearth, tears in my eyes.. one unhappy yoga
