Yes there are but they are no more portable then normal laptops (they can't fit into any pocket) and they are more expensive.
If I have the money I might go for the upcomming Archos AV500. It is a PDA with 20GB HDD and a TiVo like ability for recording TV shows. Not many details are known about it yet and it was supposed to be released at the end of 2004. Might be pushed back a little but if so there has been no word as to why.
