O.K. it's like this - all games have these .pak files in them (especially in big ones), that can be opened simply by Powerarchiver. But in some games there's and answer like: "put in the last file beforth or smth" and it don't open. Whats up with dat? :eeeeeh: Anywayz, anyone know a program to open these or could this be fixed by pressin' somethin'?

I use a nice tool called pakscaped (use it to extract the old HL sounds and wads for map editing). Get it at http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?...496381-02062100
Its under the misc section... btw I think only Quake based games use .pak

I saw PAK's in Legend of Kyrandia II. And a few others too, including Traffic Department I think.

But yeah, WTH would you want to unpack these files?

Ya see all games have something cool inside. And there I see the files, which if opened I get use of. I can manipulate with these things and make the games to do what I want. example: turn to eng.; extract music of cool sounds; enhance textures; etc. etc. etc...

I think you get the picture now...

When I want to get pakscaped it just says: page cannot be found".
Could you send me a copy of yours?

edit: found everything.
correction: everything I got sucks. None can open the files I want. Damn.
Any ideas?

Many game producers created their _OWN_ PAK formats, which only share the same extension. With a solid degree of hexadecimal skills or a good ripper program you _might_ extract them, but don't ask me how to put them back in.

Better try with some _newer_ games, 1995-1997 period is where all the "easy modding" began.
