Hey all, I'm not sure how exactly the following information might be useful, but
Prince of Persia has its 25th anniversary next week, on October 3rd. As I'm sure most of you know, after its release for the Apple ][ it has been ported to lots of platforms, including DOS (
download available at Abandonia).
Also, today (September 28th), version 1.09 of
SDLPoP has been released.
SDLPoP is a free and open-source port of
Prince of Persia, that runs natively(!) under Windows and Linux, so without the use of an emulator. Two download mirrors
here (ZIP, 1.2MB) and
here (same). While this is still a pre-release, it basically works flawlessly. (Better fullscreen support and music is being worked on.)
Finally, maybe it's interesting for visitors if the "extras" sections of the Abandonia pages about
Prince of Persia and
Prince of Persia 2 would contain download links for the free and open-source
Prince of Persia (1 + 2) level editor
apoplexy. Version 2.6b of that editor was released on September 18th. Two download mirrors for Windows are
here (ZIP, 17MB) and
here (same). Two download mirrors for Linux are
here (TGZ, 7.4MB) and
here (same).
