Never heard of such a problem before.
I could send you the game in your mailbox instead if you like.

I've played Talisman, and didn't like it. I pretty much "collect" board games and have played many of them. Talisman is good if you compare to the simpler, more classic ones where you just throw a die, move forward and see what happens, but still, it's pretty dull and way too long.
Hero Quest's better than Talisman, but I can still think of many, many other board games I'd rather play than Hero Quest.

As I recall, you have to run into the enemies.

Yes. It is all decided by the dices.
A skull means a hit. A shield means a save for the player. A sort of squiggle :P means a save for the monster.

Are the weapons in the weapons menu the same as in the bord game? A friend of mine had the bord game and I remember to have lot of fun with it. One or two years later I bought Star Quest. It is very much superior to Hero Quest. Due to sort of party management and a better combat system. Another big plus was, that the board was made of 4 pieces that could be put together in different ways. There is a PC Version of Star Quest for the Amiga. Don't remember the name and if it was ported to the PC, too.

Personally I thought the board game of Hero Quest was very good, and I think the selection of weapons is about the same. Except, for the board game you could make up your own items or weapons if you wanted to and create your own levels.

Well, I've simply hit enter when it asked for the disk and it worked for me...
