Warcraft II Installation in Dosbox
Hello to all the community
First allow me to tell you that i love this page which i consider is the best one available. I will get to the point... I have the original game, W2 and expansion Dark portal (blue and green cds) Im trying to install this game using dosbox, i mounted the cd rom, then i created a folder into my secondary hard disk to install it (could that be the problem?).. then I went to install.exe, and i got this: http://s245.photobucket.com/user/tom...l?t=1369681495 I dont know what else to do..but i would love to use it through dosbox. Would someone please help me with this? Im not an expert, and i barely used MS-DOS being a little kid. Please obi.. i mean.. please abandonia people, you are my only hope. PS: I know there were several post with the same topic but none had a similar situation i think... only the one i got this image from and they didn't continue with the solution. EDITION: Installation in progress changing the folder mounted to primary Hard disk. Last edited by Edward1986; 03-07-2013 at 07:18 PM. |

First things first: dosbox 0.73 is old, update to dosbox 0.74
(you can keep 0.73 if you want, 0.74 will install in his own folder) Now for some details: Your OS? (yes, it matters) Your mount lines? (detailed please) Your inputs (detailed please) And in stead of using your real CD create a CD image, and mount that with imgmount, works better on modern hardware.

More specific changes require editing the config file. Under [sdl], you want fullscreen (if you want to start DOSBox in fullscreen mode), fullresolution, windowresolution and output (set to overlay or ddraw, required for scaling to work right). Under [render], set aspect to true. |

If you want an easy way to install it, download D-Fend Reloaded, install the game through there and play. I made a video at http://youtu.be/LxpGjSoo0B8 that helps with setting up games through D-Fend, although the example game I used was an abandonware download as opposed to a cd installation. Using D-Fend I have installed my Warcraft 2 cd and expansion and both are playable. Also if that video helps you get an idea of how to setup the game, also check my other video that is specifically how to setup Warcraft 2 in D-Fend, again its using the abandonware download though: http://youtu.be/DcFlovWUsDM
