i have found this nice list of virtual machines on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...rtual_machines
there are also more operation systems for host, so even some people who had problems running dosbox under linux or so can find solutions there (btw, linux dosemu looks pretty good)

yeah thats true=) but also in this "DOSEMU" for linux, unlike dosbox, it runs even at native speed of your computer.
btw i have tried installing win95 on free "vmware" player and it works quite fine

I saw that table back when fiddling with virtual machines... But it has too much information for me. :P

Long time lurker here, at last decided to join. ;) *EDIT : LOLZ Newbee spammer @52 years ......
Virtual Box is listed as supporting : DOS, Windows, Linux, OS/2, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, but ... I've done some testing with this one, for Dos, yes it runs in it, but as it can't emulate a SB it's pretty worthless for gaming purposes. To run old Windows in it, they run slower then on VPC, and again: no sound, certainly in W95, you can eventually get sound in W98SE as it can emulate (and pretty good) an AC97 soundchip, drivers for W98SE can be found, but it's again slower then VPC. The good things about Virtual Box lays in a VM for NT likes (even Vista) or most Linuxes. (Ubu-DSL-DSL-N and so on.) In that segment it beats VPC. I would even dare to advise Virtual Box if someone wants to test out some Linux distris. My 2 cents, for what it's worth.

Virtual Machines
By using a virtual machine you'll form of a bunch of computers that works along to form a superior activity machine via the high accessibility hosting system. During this kind of system or machine the software creates a setting all across the number of computers falling into under its area.
