It may be that I am extremely dense, but I can't figure out how to play X-Wing.
I downloaded the file from this site, and proceeded to unpack it. No problem so far... But, there are only two files in the ZIP, XWingCE.bin and XWingCE.cue, neither of which I understand how to use. Is something missiong, or is it a CD-ROM image (and if so, how do I use it)? |

Yes it is a CD image. You can either burn it on CD if you have a CD-writer and a programs like Alcohol 120% (not free) or you can mount the image using a program like Daemon Tools (free).
Get Daemon Tools here. http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=programs Once you have either the CD-Rom or the image mounted you run DOSBox (you need to able to run something like 20,000 cycles to make it run smoothly) to install the game. Make sure you mount the correct CD-ROM drive in DOSBox. Deamon Tools makes a virtual CD-ROM drive on your computer with a sepperate letter designation from your own CD-ROM drive so find out which it is so you can mount that one in DOSBox.

Well, I have Nero 6 installed. Would they work with that?

You can burn them with NERO I think but I don't have a lot of expertise with that program (prefer alcohol myself).
Your best bet is to use deamon tools if you cannot figure out how to burn the game with NERO.

dosbox handles them for you as well.
imgmount d location-of-cue-file -t iso

Is there something special that I have to do to get the CD to show me all the files in the .bin?
Even when I try it through dosbox (mount c: c:\...\xwing -t cdrom) it still only shows up as the one file. Any suggestions? |

Use Daemon Tools.
Open the .cue file in the program, and VOILA! k: (Look in The Picard's post above for a link to the program)

OK, I was just hoping that I could use it from the CD. Just seems quicker/easier, but I'll give Daemon Tools a try.
