Hey!
I got some birthday money and am considering purchaseing a PSP.... However, before I do I would like to try the game MGS:Acid. Would that be legal? Whats the truth about the law when it comes to emulation. For example you can download GBA,PS1,N64 emulators etc and play games that aren't very old... the websites that provide such games claim if you own the original you can keep the 'rom' and if you don't you are allowed to play it for a 24 Hour Evaluation time. Whats the truth? Also, are PSP Emulators in existence?

I doubt it too
I just wonder'd .... emulators for the psp have been in exsitience for over 2 years now... the developers ones I mean. Sometimes they get 'leaked' dont they. ROM's are very confusing when it comes to legality.. thats why I asked.

Donwloaded Roms are not legal no matter what the site tells you about deleting them in 24h period or owning a disc/cartridge of the game...
The only roms that are legal are those that you extract using methods that are unknwn to me... I'm not sure if PSP emulators exist, so if you decide to download one beware of trojan's and stuff...

Rom's aren't legal?
Thanks for clearing that up. Emulators can still be used as platforms for indy programmers though.. There's many free non commercial roms created by the public !

Emulators are legal, and some software companies, such as Sega are using them for a while now. Also all those re-release of old games are mostly done trough some emulation software, rather then recoding whole game for new console. |
