In open B-Net there only play cheaters mostly. And if you're lucky and meet there completely legit players, it's too boring...

you don't have open in diablo 1 and im not touching diablo 2 again. i was a legit b.net player for the first 2 yrs of playing diablo 2, then i got into hacks (mh and the like) on closed with hardcore characters (1.10 didn't get rid of hacks at all, i didn't get caught so i was lucky :P)

Ah, you meant Diablo 1 before? Well, bad news pal. Diablo 1 is since long time not supported on Battle-Net anymore. That's why you couldn't connect. These times are over, and Diablo II seems to go slowly under too...

Should you ever being scanned and there would be duped / hacked items detected on your account, this is the range of the punishment, first lowest, last the worst:
1. Hacked / duped items will be deleted 2. You character wearing such items will be deleted. 3. Your entire account will be deleted 4. Your serial key will be permanently banned from entering battle-net |

well, i heard they put the scanner in one of the d2 .dlls (i think its storm.dll) and techinically, thats illegal as they don't mention its being installed during the installation and thats installing software without the users permission (especially as it scans all the programs currently in memory). i deleted the log files that are generated each time d2 starts up to help prevent getting caught
