Windows Vista and Windows 7 added a new twist to old games gaming: 64 bits versions.

If you use a 64 bits version, they are not compatible with old 16 bits programs. That mean any game made for Windows 3.x won't work since Windows 3.x was 16 bits.

From experience though, I never had a problem running a game flagged as XP compatible on my XP computer. That doesn't mean that I don't prefer to run games which are also both XP and DOSBox compatible in DOSBox though...
