Here's another one of my wacky plans to help on our troublesome situation. It's 23rd May 1999 and we've took care of the infiltrator UFO on Canada, though no idea if there were more we didn't detect.

Anyways, there's still a landed (large) UFO on USA, though it's not gonna stay there forever. So my reasoning is, to improve our score the best we can, I redirect Skyranger-1 to it so we can take care of it before it takes off. The alien base isn't going anywhere and since we still got a week later on this month we can take care of it later, and it'll look better on our score if we manage to take care of both the alien base AND a large ufo.

So what do you all think? Too risky or should I go with it?

Get HE packs and get in that base is my advice. If we got the commander now we could just have some steady progress, building up our squads and attacking Cydonia when we felt that it would be a good time to, rather than having a lot of pressure on us.

By the way, do we have laser rifles yet? I just want to know as it would make the Cydonia attack easier, there being plenty of us and they need no clips, saving a lot of space which we can use for tanks and grenades etc.

Cydonia doesn't just come instantly with a Commander.
First you need to capture and research a Leader to get The Martian Solution, only afterwards will Commanders show up (iirc) and you can get Cydonia Or Bust. Also, you need to research and manufacture an Avenger to be able to GO to Cydonia, and to research an Avenger you must first research the rest the other new crafts, and before that you need UFO Construction, and before that... well, go look at the tech tree yourself.

And yes, we do have laser rifles, check the first post. And, FYI, you don't need to teach me how to play, I've been playing UFO and TFTD for years

Anyways, the "votes" are in, first we take care of the remaining large UFO and then we go for the base... after I go, ugh, shopping
