I have the cutscenes in the game I simply installed it from original CD,
then downloaded rip version from abandonia and overwritten the files.

CD mounting is done with

Code:
mount D "E:\" - t cdrom -ioctl -label ADELINE
now when original lba.exe is run instead of relent.exe, there will be cutscenes.

However, I have a problem with sound. The game starts, Adeline logo has
sound, intro (Twinsen flying on the dragon) has sound, menu background
has no sound (and the menu itself doesn't show), and then game crashes.
If "no sound" is chosen in the setup utility, all works fine (in a sad sad silence).
Any ideas?

I am writing from 2005.
I've just played LBA2 and am currently purchasing LBA. It is the best game ever. A real sense of nostalgia hit me when i started playing it.
It's a long shot, but does anyone use this forum anymore?

umm you're purchasing a abandonware game? Or did you mean you're purchasing LBA2?

Well, to quote the FAQ on this site:

Quote:
Q: What is Abandonware? Is it legal?

A: Wikipedia: "Abandonware is computer software which is no longer being sold or supported by its copyright holder. Alternately, the term is also used for software which is still available, but on which further support and development has been deliberately discontinued." Since the software is no longer sold or supported, the copyright holders are not directly harmed in any way. This is why abandonware sites are, for the most part, ignored by the law. The distribution of copyrighted software however is, and will allways be, illegal!
So in short: LBA 1 is concidered to be abandonware for the above mentioned reasons, you can download it for free as well (on this site actually, among with many other great classics)

I' ve got lba1 now! it's really cool. i like the story line, its a lot more exciting than lba2. i haven't got very far, my only problem with it is that it takes me about ten turns to be able to work out what to do! (i don't like using walkthroughs :bleh: )
has anyone else had this problem?

have LBA 1 on CD and found a patch to get it working.

LBA WIN can be downloaded from http://lbawin.akoonet.com/

I don't know if it works on the Adbandonware version.
