Lots of MMOGs distribute their clients for free over the interent, A Tale in the Desert does and Eve Online has recently switched to free clioent downloads.

Yes, but more people are liekly to play it if they don't have to buy it first, coupled with a week's/month's free trial they could attract even more people and give they game more cash inthe long term.
Anyway, it's just the idea of paying for things twice that irritates me. |
