Music that meanders aimlessly without any story or drama tends to turn me off. Even an instrumental should tell a story, I think, and should take the listener on some kind of journey...otherwise it becomes flavourless and dull = elevator music. I like powerful music with a strong character as it usually is the most moving and meaningful to me. Some spanish music or goth rock (with a more ethereal feel) is usually very powerful because all the elements combine to create a single mood. Bit like a short story...usually the more powerful and meaningful ones work because every element of the story contributes to a single focus or mood. I find some Eurovision styled music to be kind of meaningless and limp. hehe

So, you must like the planets by Holst. At least Jupiter and Mars.
