Hey guys!
I absolutley love this game, I used to have it on my old PC, and play it all the time. Then my family got rid of it :wallbash:

I couldnt find it anywhere at all, and almost forgot the name, then it came to me, and Ive been searching for it every since.

I came across this site and downloaded it, but its not working? and Im going crazy!!

Sorry to hear that, but what exactly is not working? Any error messages? Empty or otherwise corrupted archives? No sound? What sort of problems do you have with this game?

The problem is that i do not want to experience the "inventory bug" mentioned in many texts on the net about the game. I have downloaded the official patch but i started getting the error messages about my inventory. Check my previous post...

I wanted to know if anyne had an inventory or any item related bug problem with this version of the game, unpatched... If not, ie. the game is beatable as is, the i won't install the patch and play the abandonian version of the game.

My only concern is getting a quest item vanished right in the middle of the game because of some stupid bug.

Rounding all up:

Is this version that we've all downloaded from here bug-free? If not, what can you suggest about patching?

oh well I click on the UW icon, and it comes up with a Dos screen (I think, im not great with computers haha), and it says no EMS memory.

Then i went and fixed the Ems, by going to its properties and fixing hte memory.
Now when i click on the icon is just says EMS allocated. And then does nothing else.

You click the icon? Ok then: What operation system do you have? You shouldn't try to run the game in xp. For xp users, there is dos box (downloadable here at Abandonia. Even Windows95/98 have their issues with this game. So, try to run it either in dos box or in pure dos. For that you would probably need a dos boot disc, also downloadable here at Abandonia.

For how to use/configure dos box and the boot disc, there's lots of help already on this forum, as well as a FAQ.

I try it in vmd sound but i get the same, ems memory allocated then nothing....

If you check the icons at "compatibility" - these ones here:

you can see that this game runs in DOS or DOSBox - I don't think it will run with VDMSound or you would have the icon for it there too.

It would appear that the message you're receiving is just to tell you that your savegame has an item list error which CAN (will?) manifest itself into helpful AND essential items being destroyed (the Taper of Sacrifice vanished in my game), thus making the game un-finishable. Now that you've patched the game I suggest starting over w/ a new character. If that is not feasible then save scrupulously, checking your inventory before and after each save. Also backup 'good' savegames to a different location on your hard drive periodically so you won't lose all of your progress.

Note: the patched .EXE file has a newer date (Feb 9, 1993; 4:09 am) than the one in this downloadable version (Mar 11, 1992; 6:20 pm) so it seems that the game on this site is the original, unpatched version.

If you haven't played yet or made much progress patch the game then start (or start over)!

A somewhat good news for Uw lovers.

Recently, while I was searching for stuff about Uw, I found that a game was meant to be UW3. Since they didn't get the autoral rights, they did one very much similar. The name is Arx Fatalis, I really recommend it. Although it is not a abandonware, being published around 2003, it is easy to find. I was nostalgic while playing the first level of it.

It's not close as good as the real Ultima Underworld games, though. The feeling is just not the same.
