PS : I love Jean-paul II and its only my respect to him that made me feel the need to implicate myself this much I wouldve stopped a long time ago if it was somebody else.

Explenation:
Building roads was a good thing. So Hitler did something good.
But he built them so he could move his armies faster - which caused deaths of many people. The motive was bad.
Hitler is therefor a bad person (even the good things he did prove that).
Still no one can deny he did at least one thing that can be considered good.

To apply that logic to the pope and use of condomes:
The pope forbade the use of condomes (this is very unpopular), which has a negative effect on people.
He forbade it because he wanted people to live less lustfully (the motive is good).
He even offered another way out - which the people couldn't follow, because it was to demanding (not to have sex before marriage and even then only with the same partner - this would stop spreading of AIDS also).
So his motives were good, but the resoult was bad. He might not have solved the problem - mostly because he ofered high ideals instead of practical and quick patch to solve the main problem - spreading of AIDS, but he's by no means not a bad person for it.

Sadly, some of these seeminlgy high ideals of the Catholic Church don't apply to the modern world. They never did, actually.

I know, but should the church change to suit the immorality of people?

Yeah the church should't change some things, maybe there are some issues that have to be looked upon further, investigated, not just shot down immediately.

Not the call Hitler a good person in any way. But he created Volkswagen to build cars the normal people could buy in a time cars where very expensive. And we still drive in Volkswagen today. So he did 2 good things

Aside from that he was indeed a sick man

I do agree with Hitler on art no longer being art, I agree art has to evolve but nowadays art is just plain junk (and the artists seem to be proud of that!)

anyway, we're straying off topic, get back on topic but without starting a war, please.

Some principles, like the the imposed abstinence from sex for example, are bound to fail right from the start. You can't force the public to forsake such basic instincts by threatening with eternal punishment, people will just continue doing what they always have done, although not as openly, but they will, there's no stopping that.

And the Church actually has changed over the years. Seeing how they continuously lost popularity (and alongside that, their power), they had to loosen their laws. The Church nowadays isn't the same Church it was 500 years ago. Thanks God. No pun intended.

Oh, and I will not even start to denounce the hypocrisy of preaching one thing, but doing the complete opposite within one's own ranks, to prevent another escalation of this topic.
