Here goes.
Download the game. Unzip to the folder c:\nomad Run DOSBox type mount c c: press enter type c: press enter type cd nomad press enter type nomad press enter PLAY! If the sound still doesn't work look for NOMAD.CFG file (look at it in windows. It's in the Nomad folder - it might say it's a microsoft outlook file. Open it with NOTEPAD and make sure it only says SB27 and nothing else in that file). Then run the DOSBox again. |

The only other change I've made that might have an effect on this is the DOSBox configuration. Look for the DOSBox.conf file. I changed the GUS setting to FALSE (maybe there's a unresolved issue of two soundcards.

Are you sure you're playing the game you got from our site? Try downloading the game archive again (it's set in such a way, that it should run with sound as soon as you play it).

Well I did as you said, downloaded it again, unzipped it, then ran it. In the intro text info stuff, it says there isn't enough ems for sound. I remember that from DOS so I know what it is. So, the sound doesn't work if I just try to run it, and when I add EMS through the nifty XP options, it still doesn't work correctly.
Also, I recently reformatted this comp so it's unlikely to be some kind of bug... What OS are you using? |

I'm using WinXP - with DOSBox .63 and it works flawlessly.
Just in case you're running low on memory (while in DOSBox) type loadfix, or maybe even better get D-Fend. |

Im experiencing the same problems as Khono - with GUS disabled in the dosbox config file or with just starting the game in WinXP with EMS enabled manually.

I'm affraid I can't help you much further - especially because this problem does not (and never did) occur on my computer. Sorry to say, but I can't tell you how to fix something, that I've never seen broken.
You may try to open a new topic about it in the Troubleshooting section of the forum - maybe somebody else would be able to give you better advice - there are quite a few DOSBox experts, who should be able to solve this problem. |

Ok, call me expert!
khono, our problem can be solved by following the following instruction: download the newest dosbox version. I had dosbox 0.61. After downloading 0.63, the game works with sound -> no more NUL error. Happy gaming! Geordy |
