I remember when I watched House On Haunted Hill.
When they're tapping on walls, and all of a sudden that old lady appears and glides across the screen, freaky.

I was about 6, and screamed myself hoarse.
Schindler's List was just filled with moments, so I really can't specify any, but that film was excellent.

As for The Shining, the movie is incredibly different from the book.
I saw both Night and The Shining, and being a huge Romero fan, I found Shining to be a much better film.
Oh, and saying Night is the best horror film, and then forgetting classics like Alien is unforgivable, although a good film, Night doesn't stand up to those, even with it's low budget in consideration.

Alien is suspense, not a horror film, and if you talk about no budget then that works against Alien now, Alien, by todays standards is extremely corny, I meen, its just not scarry anymore, its all been talked about to death, "the movie where the alien busts through that guys chest? Oh ya, I've seen it" I mean its a good film, but NOTD is betttttter, the shovel scene>the chest scene. Personally I found Aliens much better than Alien....
Damn you Titanic, release James Cameron!!!!
And they should have kept the mallet, not an axe...
And I think the ending in the book is much better than the one in the movie...

Naw... Sure, go ahead.

I like the point in Spirited Away when the dragon is getting all mauled by the papers. k:

Dude, no.
(haha I copied you!)
I personally don't classify it as horror, although I guess technically it is, to me its just not scarry! And as for the parisite part, the same could be said for NOTD, Romer actually said that (in Bravos top 100 scariest movie moments) that the whole point of NOTD is that it shows how society devours the old and outdated. (And for the record Jaws is not the top 1 scariest movie, nuh uh). And yes, back when it came out, in theatres, Alien was scarry as hell, but if were doing it by todays standards its not. I mean, everbody knows about it, have you ever met one person who hasn't at least heard of it? The same could be said for NOTD, but unlike Alien, NOTD has more scarry scenes, theres the shovel scene, the scene where they eat the organs (eeeep) and the famous "Theyr coming for you Barbra...". Plus, in my opinion NOTD is much more deep and invloving, you feel a lot more for the characters, i Alien yes you feel for her too, but not as much, close, but not as much. In NOTD you have the main character you have Ben the black dude whos in this house, surrounded by zombies with a host of other unreliable characters, the girl is braindead, the one man who is helpful (the teenager) dies, the one man with his wife and the girl trys to betray him out of his own fear several times. And the ending in NOTD is SUPERB, I won't give it away but its one of the few endings that has made me go "oh *meep*". And btw, are you talking about the original NOTD or the aniversary edition withe extended content? And lets not forget, The NOTD series has kept on being good, unlike the alien series where it basically fades after Aliens...
