What annoys me with croatian is the different forms
For instance the difference in the ending of the words. -AN = male form -NA = female form Let's take that example and move it to a new step. Jest trudNA This means "She is pregnant." Jest trudAN This means "He is pregnant." The word "Jest" means both "He is" and "She is", it is the ending of the last word that decide the sex of the person. As you can all see... the last sentence doesn't make much sense, unless you happen to be carrying the Iman. (According to Hindu beliefs, he shall be born by a man). And so ends Tom's little Croatian class.

Jest does mean she is and he is, but the reason they have a different ending is to distinguish between the two. Of course you already knew that, but why is that so annoying?

Doesn't Jest mean Is?

It's easier to write is pregnant than she/he is pregnant.
(jest trudan/trudna - ona/on je trudan/trudna.) |

Because I always mix the two
Why can't languages be as easy as Norwegian - English -- I am - You are -- He is - She is -- It is - We are - You are They are Do you all see how easy Norwegian is? It is the only language in that group that only changes one of the words.

I know you can take away the Person in the sentene, and even the "je" part. But I wanted to make a point saying that Norwegian was sooooo much cooler

English is really complicated, I'm glad I didn't have to learn it .
There are about 500 irregular verbs or something stupid like that, it's so hard that most English people can't speak it properly. |
