![]() I never said I don't agree with much of what been said here. What I don't agree with is the practical side of the whole thing.
It's not because you and me know that we should not mix Windows with DOSBox or about pathing issues that it will stop the vast majority to try and wonder why it's not working... Most people don't even know what a directory is! All they know about is folders... |

![]() Another thing that works is to manually edit the .cfg file. It's flat text... for a lot of old games...
I just set my matrix cubed and ctd save directories to the same dir by editing the cfg file. Since the characters can go between games, this is neat for the SSI games. Deleting the cfg file is more idiot proof, but, I prefer the edit method. Get more familiar with the way games used to be made, no usage of the stupid registry, etc... all settings in one folder... that's the way to go. I can pack up my "oldgames" folder onto a portable thumbdrive with dosbox on it, play directly from the drive or drop copies at other PCs I am on, copy back and bring my savegames home easily because of this... Sad that old games are better than new ones in such a basic area. |
