Did I miss it, or could it be, that no one named Douglas Adams
I was thinking about naming him but I was unsure if it would be correct to call him a writer. After all he wrote the books after he made the radio-show, so I was slightly unsure. But his stories are amazing nonetheless.

If he wrote ANYTHING, then he's a writer. Duh.

As for favorite, I've got lots of favorite authors. The Strugatsky brothers, Terry Pratchet, Mathew Woodring Stover, Neal Stevenson, William Gibson, Frederik Pohl, Mary Gentle, Larry Niven, Philip K. Dick, James Clavell...

The list, she goes on.

Yes but I'd bring him up for his radio-series rather than his books... duh

I've got three main favorites so I'll try my best to be brief with it.

-Philip K. Dick- Without his works so many sci-fi movies never would have been possible (Bladerunner (but read the book because it's much better), Total Recall, Minority Report). If I had to choose a favorite novel though it would definately be "Valis"

-Connie Willis- I've never had a novel effect me quite like "Passage" has. It'd definately be the first book I'd recommend for anyone to pick up (it's about Near Death Experiences, so I'd definately recommend it to the idiots that sit there and say "OMG I almost got hit by a car one time, I definately had an NDE!". When of course that's nowhere near what an NDE is at all. ).

-David Morrell-Excellent suspense/espionage author. Without him First Blood (Rambo) never would have been made. My favorite book from him is "Fraternity of the Stone"
