This is definitely a very nice game. I have never truely finished it because it is a strange blend of both RPG and adventure game... And you know how I like adventure games. But the whole part when you build up your char was really nice.

One of my favorite RPG Adventure games. A very nice game indeed.

I came looking for something else and stumbled over this thread... funny, because I was playing QFG2 just today. The original 16-color version. What a treat! I thought the 3rd was the hardest. Maybe it was because the storyline is more linear, and I had to get used to the new interface. I bought the 4th installment on CD within a few weeks after I got my first CDROM drive. A quad-speed Toshiba drive, and it cost $189.00. It was a great addition to my 486-80Mhz w/ 16MB RAM, a 240MB HDD, and a REAL soundblaster 16. So hot...

Some questions:
Is the time important ? I have to make all quickly ?
How about money, can i spend or should i keep the money ?
Near the starting village there is a tree i can try to climb, if i keep trying to climb i keep getting experience points, is that normal ?

As previously said: you have unlimited time. The part of the day determines what you can do at the moment, but otherwise you have unlimited time. (In quest for glory 2-5 the time becomes limited, but in the 1st you have unlimited time.)

Money depends. It can be transferred to the next episode, but money will be plenty anyway, so always have your supplies.

There are different skills the character has, one of it is "climbing". So when you climb the tree you actually use the climb skill, so of course you get experience. The exp-system gives you exp whenever one of your skills gets upgraded, so when your climbing skill will reach the level when climbing the tree won't anymore rise your climbing skill, you'll have to find a harder surface to climb to get more experience from using the climbing skill.

HINT: you have also a Lockpick skill. You can enchance it by picking locks, and even further by picking your nose!

Getting all your stats/spells to 100 in the first game makes the subsequent games easier.

Even in QfG4, having 100 climbing or whatever can be enough.

If you make all your spells a hundred, I'll eat my hat. Stats and skills are ok, but all the spells...

I remember doing it. I'd just spam cast spells like I would with any other skill. I had a system where I'd do Erasmus's maze and then rest to regain MP and then I'd keep resting and spamming spells. I think I fit in cleaning the stable too since it was a good way to tire yourself out and raise other attributes.
