A SGA team? can I enter that one?

About that image, it is impossible to determine what it is at that distance... you would have to look closer. However there are certain things that are only visible at a certain distance ("The Candelabra of the Andes" just come in to my mind, and the "Long man of Wilmington" is another example)

It can be anything, even a piece of "moss" or its absence (although it doesn't look much like that)... it is probably much newer than the rocks, but if they don't let people come closer, then it must not be that recent (of course this is just speculation too )

It looked to me like there was a shape in the middle of the U-shape as well. This may not be a dragon boat, but it may be a symbol of some sort. However, I've never heard of symbols in connection with stonehenge.

Two possibilities. 1) The builders of stonehenge actually used symbols that we were un aware of. 2) This is a classic case of after-the-fact modification by some third party. Possibly vandilism.

But like the number of licks to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop, "the world my never know".

OK, here's the first reply I've got from the academy: We are currently on holidays. Your message will be viewed at a later time.

So far that answer reveils nothing LOL

They couldn't care less about this, all they care is they nice holiday...

I think this SGA is not a bad idea at all, but we shall start raising an army if we are to conquer the universe The Abandonia Universe... how cool is that

could be a dragonship. it could be a torque.. the henge has gone thru many periods of use and has been carved by many different cultures. however there is only one problem. you see where the bottom of the proposed half circle is. the circle is obscured by an outcropping. if it was a carving then it would continue into the outcroopping rather than appearing to go underneath it unless
the outcropping is a lichenous mass, moss ect
also such bulbous outcroppings will appear on stones due to acid rain.
(or maybe the person doing the carving thought it looked like a wave and wanted the ship rising out from it.)
having said that the more i look at it the more i want to belive it is something. quite a few carvings have been discovered over the past 10 years. and a lot of them are only visable to the naked eye when the light is at the right angle.

Interesting article.

Quote:
Carving of axe heads, as well as daggers and cups, have been found at burial sites all over the UK, Trueman told New Scientist: "They seem in some sense to be commemorating the dead."
This could actually go well with my theory on what Stonehenge really is: an unfinshed burial mount.

There are plenty of those around the site, this one was just supose to be bigger. The stones are perfectly alligned with the stars, because they wanted to achieve the effect of sunlight reaching the place of the body only on certain days - like in Newgrange.

So they made sure the rays would hit the right spot on the right days, the stones could also be the "support beams" for it... they just never got around to finish it - to cover it all up (or maybe even to complete building the circle). I mean the outer stones are lower, the inner stones higher (like if they were trying to build a dome over it).

I know - it's just another theory, but hey, who knows.

its an aincent computer.
some sod must have left a manual around somewhere..
i dont know if h.ps legacy section goes as far back as technical manuals for stone circles.
i think its more than a burial site. the network it sits in the middle of... kinda gives it extra significance. and you can tell the time with it. all you can do with a pyrimid is sharpen a razor. wheras with stonehenge you got all the ainchent holidays mapped out. wait for the sun to alighn and its party time.
get there for a solstice if you can seb so you can touch the stones.
(hmm stonehenge)
(thinks: ainchent terminal server)
if you decide to get there for the summer solstice pm me.
i may go there this year, or maybe avebury.. not yet decided.

We'll make a SGA(bandonia) team go through first.
I'm on it. You give me my sniper rifle, I give you cover.
I'd like an M82, and, if it's not too much trouble, a nice mat
plus a silenced MP5 for close combat.

Oh, and a bottle of Evian would be nice .
