i just love this game, played it at a friend's when it first came out and I think it's quite cool to have found it again. Just one question: are there any cheats for this game? i've heard of a hex cheat but I can't seem to find the directory where the game stores the savegame files.

This game sucks. Battles take forever. Movement take forever. Everything takes Way. Too. Much. Time.

So, you're running a slow computer no capable of handeling the speed of the game?


Or are you a really impatient person who needs to have quck flashes all the time - otherwise the game is boring?

Do you mean it takes too much time to monitor the troops...

It can be much user friendly if we can change the size of the map while moving.

It seems that we must check the destination all the time on the grand map before we move...

Whats the best way of acquiring troops? Just walking through the place and gathering mercenaries? ( I seem to loose more troops walking than i can get in towns). Dows throwing loads of money in the army treasure increase troops??

A good way to lose less troops on the march is to split the army, have them go their own seperate ways collecting troops as they go, then meeting up if there is an enemy army to face - you will still lose troops but I have found you lose less moving them in smaller groups.

Played this game a long time ago...

I can remember i was disappointed - nice grafix & music, but NO AI (it just freezes at some point) & very tedious gameplay with semi-random battle outcomes.

For those who gives it a try anyway, i can give one good advice: DO NOT CONQUER CITIES, MAKE ALLIANCES INSTEAD. Allied cities never revolt, plus they provide additional troops after negotiations.

Real Hannibal tried to do exactly, after all... (no wonder - Carthage had about 1/10 of the Roman manpower, as sources indicate!)

It runs in my Win98SE. Have you tried clicking "Han" (batch file)?

Allied cities never revolt

I'd like that to be true, but allied cities, even those which are yours at the start of the game, can revolt.

The worst thing about this game is the lousy interface.
