B movies rock, whoo!

So yes indeed I did like this movie, even if it wasn't a B movie.

Which of his books would you say is better?

Oh, and in the book they wear vasty-useful power armour* - if you read it again, you'll see that it's far from 'clunky'

*It's oh-so Fallout

In the movie the gore was poor, I tell you, Evil Dead's gore looked better than that.

@ deadlord: Maybe that was on purpose? That movie was not meant to be an action-flick or something similiar, it's called "satire". The whole purpose was to take the premise of Heinlein's original novel (and it's a known fact that Heinlein was everything else than "satirical" when writing this book, cause he was a known supporter of "positive totaliarism" as depicted there) and turn it not only against itself, but also make a statement about today's media, gouvernments etc...

It's actually kinda scary how QUICKLY much of the things that seemed "over the top" in regards to media-coverage of war in the movie became nothing less than realistic during "shock and awe" not even ten years later...

I don't really know if I want to re-hash the whole discussion I had only a few months back on a german board (it grew rather lenghty, about 6 or 7 pages), because I'm somehow growing weary of it. Let's just say that I really think the movie is great satire (as most of Verhoeven's work), while the book is not much more than a stinking pile of totalitarian BS, at least IMHO.

I was just commenting on how the gore looked BAD, I wasn't saying anything about the realistic shock or somesuch, funny words, I was just saying that it looked bad! Which it did.
