I had an argument with my dad about Aussie polticians, I had said that I felt that we should pay politicans a lot less, like back in the day. Politicans had to have another job, most owned or ran companies in their communities, I felt, and feel that this is a better way of ensuring that the politicans have their feet on the ground, and understand what their community really wants.
My dad replied that if you pay peanuts you get monkies. That made me rather angry, I told him that if you simply pay more peanuts you just get bigger monkies. Thats what I feel has happened with most goverments, they aren't there for the good of the community/country they are there for the good of their pockets. America has it pretty bad, with politicans being brought left right and center by the big lobbies. |

While I'm all for politicians receiving less money and benefits, do you honestly think they would suddenly start working for the good of the community? I believe nothing would substantially change since it's the power that is the primary magnet for politicians, and with power you don't even need a pay at all. Hell if you own a company the government contracts you can set up for it, or others (for a provision of course) will earn you way more money anyway.

I agree that power is what most of the pollies are after. I just don't think they should get paid such a huge amount for getting it, on what amounts to a popularity contest.

I myself am disgusted with the content that my mother allows me (unknowingly) to access, if the government would censor the internet it would stop the childrenz from corrupting their fragile little minds.

Screw the internet, i want something else,
something that hasn't been regularly pissed on by politicians and companies around the world. Let me guess the words of power: Piracy - Terrorism - Pedophiles - ("Cyber")Crime It's always the same kind of shit no matter what ass it's coming from. But do they really think they can get rid of crap by covering it up, with even more crap?

The point he was making with that line though Dos was that those words are what the people in Power are saying about the internet. And that no matter who is saying that about the internet they are all fools, and their solutions offer little to fix the problem rather they are more trying to just hide it.

So it's like an endless point.
It's clear that the root of the whole problem is people, but it's a lil' difficult to change people...It's easier to find solutions that can solve those problems; solutions that are, at least, agreed by the majority, solutions for make the computer a safe place. Is this utopy? |
