Also when you have split up squad members, if you want them to regroup just move to the leader of the squad you want the soldier to join.

Also squads who are not currently selected will use machineguns to fire on any enemy in range which is useful when you want to only send in one soldier and can have some other soldiers covering him.

However squads will not run away from grenades or rockets so make sure there in a safe position.

So can anyone actually suggest how to make it work if it isn't working? The window opens to a black screen for me and that's as far as it gets

You have to use DosBox.

thanks the loadfix works, sound and musack,
but then it goes all laggy

how come dosbox takes up so much resource :angry:

It simulates the functions of an entire x86 class computer - complete with graphics card and soundcard - and that's what requires so much power.
If your machine has trouble running it smoothly, then maybe you would be better off using Abandonia Bootdisk to run your computer in DOS?

Maybe you have to do some adjustments before using DosBox?! To see the intention to write in bold letters... Isn' t too good to see... <_<
