![]() Hello, does anyone know how to get rid of the magnetic daemon on the dungeon of the citadel of wisdom? It's too hard to kill on ordinary weapons, so what should I do?

![]() Sheep, you'll have to go back to the "seer" after when u have discovered the book. Have u coordinates for the seer? If not, then next time u play mark them up..

Your character keeps heading in one direction hit that direction from the numeric keypad twice. Installing game - dont bother, just have all the files in one directory, run the setup options without install. Killing the summoned Daemon - use a dagger - since it cant be hurt you want to hit it as much as possible. Dont know if anyone else experienced this problem, but pressing lower right Enter acts twice, would initiate then kill conversation, and stuffed casting spells too. Been trawling for a walkthrough of some description - but being old most places have closed up shop, maybe the most useful was a list of map locations. Casting - im guessing there should be runes shown in the casting screen, but all i see are black squares, still all works but is just a trite annoying. |

![]() Hints and tips.
Class Im not going to recommend one of these, while i chose to go hunter healers/bards might cast better, but on creation they seemed to have deficits, as did the scout (not so much) and the warrior (bit dumb) as for merchant - having a trader in this game seems silly (gold weighs you down). Attributes strength - Useful to begin with, however I found if i had a mediocre strenght, high dex, good con con character strength would drop to weak once in game. I was able to repeat that bug with different character is useful early, affecting weapon skills. Improves slowly Dexterity - I feel this is the prime stat, since the readme says it affects if you hit. Improves very slowly. Constitution - Useful to begin with as it affects survival skills. Improves later Intelligence - gives you some points to add to skills at the start, i dont think its tied to the magic system since it never improved, not saying its useless though since it might affect improvement of other skills and casting ability. Social - Completely useless, most of the npcs are confined to JOB and CULT conversationally, it does affect bartering, but money isnt an issue in this game. Weapon skills unarmed - really just a novelty, aside from the fist dagger there are no unarmed weapons. You do need to use unarmed at one point and wouldnt be too bad a skill to begin with. cutting - i think best to begin with. crushing - perhaps works better against rock trolls, not really a starting skill though. two handed - slow, considering the low strength you start with its not worth getting early. bows - great early skill throwing - woeful, to use effectively/improve you need to carry a bunch of throw weapons, repeatedly enter inventory, equip, switch to range then aim/throw. General Skills Survival - Good skill to up - means carrying less food, very useful. Trading - useless Hunting - Storebought road rations are better/lighter. You can leave it at a basic level and improve by spamming H to hunt (1 day), then you need to drop/sell all that fresh game. Sneaking - maybe to avoid wilderness encounters - not being able to sneak also seems to wake civilians, this is actually a good thing. Skiing - will let you move faster, very poor skill in it would be frustrating. improves relatively fast Perception - ?? no idea what this does, still id throw points into it since it doesnt improve. Climbing - same as skiing but over mountains. Lockpicking - You can break open doors, bar one, a low level in pick isnt terrible though Tracking - readme says it affects how much you see in the wilderness and spotting secret doors, both of which id think would be perception. in summary - get survival up, then perception. Also have climbing/skiing at a basiclevel. General Tips Save when you can - one hit instant deaths suck. hitting key again (ie Z or arrows or T) will generally break you out of a lockout use Z and arrow keys to see your statistics, especially your Condition. Watch your fatigue, overdoing it can give you a heart attack. (HIT SPACE till you get a refreshed message) Hunt when caught in a blizzard to elapse time (really makes no sense) You dont need to travel light in the wilderness screen, but in dungeons/combat you dont want to be weighted. dump your cash by buying herbs. reset the dungeons by going up or down dungeon levels there is a list of spells and a list of locations on the internet, both are extremely useful ******WARNING CRAPPY WALKTHROUGH**** Enter Cyan bay, talk to greymire tell him TRAINER, go left into his study and use the key to open door. Grab the stuff - especially sextant, dont lose the sextant. Sell the extra armor/weapons and buy a horned bow for ranged offence. I say horned because the more shots you make the more likely the improves. use the sextant for your location. Head to snowhold, talk to fras hilltop saying GREYMIRE SENT ME, kill the priests to join the resistance, i say all because the villagers may end up aggresive. note - there is no smith in snowhowld, i found that really inconvenient. Go to seer talk to miyor silvernote saying TOME OF ANCIENTS Go to dungeon I'H - E'A get book, go back to seer, and water shrine. you can cast spells now, there is a spell list floating about on one of the abandonware sites, generally though you dont need that many spells. SPIRIT WATER FIRE EARTH AIR EARTH/WATER - Regeneration WATER - Stun FIRE - burn ALL - shrinegate (teleports you to a shrine, another if you are already at one) I also tended to use firebeam FIRE/WATER a bit, my hunter character was probably just lousy at casting (int? or class) since the affects generally lasted as long as it took to get his breath back. the readme gave some advice about visiting the shrines - id just say the best way to improve your casting skills is stay in the lowest level of the temple, cast that element on yourself, hitting SPACE to revitalize and repeat, every 10 casts or so try touching the stone again. ESPECIALLY true of the spirit shrine. back to snowhold, talk to fras again. go to Dwarlow, talk to Brin Ravenlock saying TEMPLE OF ANCIENTS couple of secret entrances NW corner of temple via tower or kitchen kill the thugs/priests when you come accross themsummoned daemon with a dagger, bladed fist would probably work too/better if you have unarmed. At the molemen now - talk to them, save and head to get their lightstone. I had a fairly weak charcter at this stage, just used FIRE and few large teeth to kill when i had to and skirting the rest. On the lowest level west of the stairs is a secret entrance, go through it, then down - grab the stone. having a weak character i found the head troll impossible to kill, and he traps you - but you can cast stun (WATER) on him before he traps you - just have to know he's coming. go back up to top level, talk to one of the molemen - who all seem to be hiding - exit is on the east side. go back to snowhold - the resistance hideout. do a reaonable? (do you even need to bother i wonder) clearing out H'R F'W talk to Brin again and meet him at new hideout. go to hearthstone FQ FO, talk to RAVEN, burn the church down - kill the agro priest (strange the place burns around him but he's unscathed) id leave the door closed. Journey to the hideout - go down one level, find the guy alone with the mobs and talk to him back to Hearthstone, enter the illusionists house, breaking or picking the door. at this point buying trips off the innkeepers no longer works. in some of the encounters you can now surrender you will also need to collect the 3 mystical weapons (or one?) , which couldve been done at any stage Heronblade I'S - E'N The Dragonhammer J'G - C'V Mythical Axe J'P - F'E facing off against the end of game boss seemed impossibly hard - and so here's where the game got tedious for me, training up all weapon skills to unearthly by killing shades at IS EN. Wearing scale plate. The key is to hit each of them - not sure if thats with each of the weapons or if one will suffice. |
