And don't forget the two interplay RPGs, Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers. Too bad they didn't finish it with Return of the King

But there is indeed a "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" game to end that trilogy, which is also a computer one. It was commended as better of the two by the critics. |

No offense, but that's a Zelda clone with Bilbo :bleh: Still better than LoTR: The Third Age for the PS2, though. And Hobbit and the two Interplay RPGs are like 10 years apart

Somewhere, in the darkest pits of the nether-net, there's a few TADS adventures that are lifted straight out of the Silmarillion and a re-make of the old classic, The Hobbit.
I'll see if I can locate them again. The Silmarillion one was pretty damn good. |

But yeah, the original text adventure was quite good. But what EA did to the franchise after the movies is just horrible. I only looked at the screenshots when I bought 3rd Age, and I thought to myself: "Look here, a nice console RPG set in the LoTR universe.. how nice". Then reality kicked in: all cut scenes are cutouts from the movie, and you only follow the fellowship through known locations, battling HORDES of enemies. On the plus side, I get to kick the Balrogs ass with Gandalf on my side
