IMO:
Easiest for multiplay: Skulltag.
Best graphics and ingame options: jDoom.

As said: IMO.

And in jDoom there are lots of mods that can be loaded .....

And as last but not least argument:
On my 23"CRT I can run Doom full screen without any pixelation.
Ever tried the original game on a 23"CRT fullscreen?

[Edit]
And what's more I can jump in the ports.
And I have mouse-aim.
And I can set up multiplayer games in a breeze.
And .....

Djees man, those ports bring Doom into modern FPS gaming, why would I play that excellent game in an ol'crappy way if I can fully enjoy it as a modern multiplayer FPS????

Let's kill _r.u.s.s. now .....
And something I forgot to mention, seems I really getting old, isn't it?

Doom classic mod on the DoomIII game combined with the grandiose COOP mod.

The classic Doom gameplay in COOP with the DoomIII engine/graphics.
Rock'n roll baby !!!!

I lost months on that one.

Okay, that's enough.

Troubleshooting is a place to help people to run and play old games. Not some place to have an argument on which game or which port is the best.

You all gave your advice to the guy, I am sure he have more than enough options now. You are free to go continue this conversation in Favorite Oldies and Newbies forum.
