I think they play a pretty small role next to downloads in the equation.

It does seem useful, adding pageviews. I mean... only based on rating and downloads, then one person could keep downloading the game over and over and over, boosting its popularity. Pageviews's a checkup for that. Also, if pageviews is alot higher than downloads, it'll show people know the game's name, but don't like the way it looks. It's kinda popular then, as it's got a reputation, but not enough to climb ranks.

Someone could just as easily visit one page continuously to increase it's popularity.
I still don't think pageviews have anything to do with it, when I first came to this site I would just browse through nearly every game looking for something I'd find interesting. |

popularity = (hits * (rating / (numvotes+1)) * (editorrating+1) + downloads) / 10
