I played that on PlayStation. Very addictive game indeed.

@Bukkarooo
Are you sure that you are in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\? [edit] The registry is not edited by the RollCage.exe but by a Rollcage patch I executed. I attached a registry data file. [/edit]

luhcsen, unfortunately, if you use a non existent or hard drive instead of actual cd-rom drive, the game will b*tch and tell you that you need to have a cd inserted

I just noticed (under the shower) that I forgot to delete that line. I only wanted that the REG creates the directories for Bukkarooo.
I will leave it in there now but change the value to Change this between the double quotes to an existing CD ROM drive, e.g. [F:\\] (without the square brackets). I'll also rename it to Rollcage CD ROM error fix.txt and add a comment explaining for what it is and what you have to do. I'll change my first instruction respectively (that the RollCage.exe doesn't create the directories, too).

It's still quite complicated.

There are also other ways to identify the disk--besides asking the user for the letter.

of course it does. but windows will just ask you to run it as admin, won't it. or what's the problem? you will have to write into registry anyways

It isn't more complicated than an average installation.
I look if I can hex the EXE.

I loved this game when I was a child, but it won't work for me. Even after messing with the reg it still gives me the CD ROM error. I'm running Win 7 64bit. If anyone can help with this I will be eternally grateful. |

There are a number of solutions that require different amounts of work. I would vote for using Russ's script, advising that in Vista and higher it's necessary to right-click and "run as administrator" instead of just double-clicking. (Or if in XP as limited user, "run as..." and selecting an admin account.) Surely that isn't too much to ask.
