i have Win98 and some older version of winamp. would have to chek which one is it. if i understand i woudl change music into MP3. that's fine with me. you can PM me the procedure and i will see what i can do.

since i already have some of the game music in MP3 does aynone maybe know how to change it to audio CD files? i would like to listen in in my car and it is older model and has only audio CD, but not MP3 player. so if oyu have any procedure on that yoou can also let me know in PM. would love to listen to golden axe while driving down the highway

anyway i will arrive home late at night today, because i have some things to do. but maybe tomorrow afternoon i will have some time for ripping.

Use CDEX if you can, it tends to give better results. The program is free, just google it up.

As for MP3 -> Audio CD... almost any CD burning program will do that. Just select an option to record Audio CD.

OK i ripped the music. Problem is that music that is in adventure map is mixed with sound effects (birds, waves...) but Music within towns and on the battle field is just music.

here is some interesting data i came across.

- if i zip the full CD (which doesn't have any codes) and this would inlcude directx folder, kingsbounty and manual (windows help file) for KB and HOMM1 the filesize would be about 82MB.

- if i exclude the directX directory i get roughly about 76MB

- music (inlcuding adventure screen one) makes up about 22MB

- only music (only within towns, on battle fields etc.) take us about 15 MB

Which one should get published?

Edit: I blieve that what i have is a WIndows version as i can run normally it from WIN98.

gregor, cool that you did it before we even had the time to 'help' you. Well, before I, anyway.
I suppose the best one would be the second option (cd and music minus directx).
Unless, of course, it's possible to burn the data available right here in abandonia to a cd plus the music files. As opposed to the data of your cd. But if you say your version has directX, you must be right, it's probably a windows version! Which is even better, because not anyone can run dosbox smoothly, it requires quite a powerful machine.
So yeah, the best option seem the second one, as everyone can get directX on the web.

well size is an issue here. so maybe only mp3 music from HOMM1 - the smaller version.


Strange how servers are so expencive, even if hard sdisks are relativelly cheap nowadays... But there is nothing we can do about it.

This way size wouldn't be much of an issue. Well, it would be a drag to put it there if your ineternet connection is slow.
