Dosbox runs perfectly under Vista.

Is there any way to increase the game speed like in Settlers 2? I like this one better but have to play S2 because I want to win before I retire!

I have gotten the game to work simply by clicking on settlern and it seemed fine until I realized that the special click is not functioning at all. I can use the right mouse button to scroll on the map and to choose which buildings to build but that is about it.

Now I am not using DOS Box and I did not "install" the game (I click on install and it tries to verify files and such and simply doesn't do anything).

Is there something I am doing wrong?

The graphics aren't what I remember either.

Anyways when I first played this game years ago I had so much fun and I spent hours doing it. I probably don't need it to work properly as this means I would probably spend hours playing it again! Either way even being able to see the little guys carry their stuff and do their thing is cool enough.

Are you sure you're thinking about the right part of the series? Settlers 2 had slightly different graphics.

Okay so now I have used DOS Box and it helps a lot with my whole idea of the graphics, they are what I remember. But I still can't use the right -click for anything. It is that simple for the special click right - right-click on buildings and such or on the flag to send out the geologist?

Also I cannot demolish buildings or flags, or cut roads? Kind of strange. Now really though, I should be sleeping instead of here onthis forum or playing the game, so yeah.

Perhaps it depends on game's control settings. Best would be to check with the manual.

DL'ed this game under WinXP DosBox 0.65
My sound works fine, VGA mode is best. Tried all the EXE. files though and SVGA also. Read the manual and 'read me' files and tried re-setting the game options and right/left configurations. All of this and to no avail. My mouse left clicks just fine, but I can't right click or scroll around the world.

Since I see many posts, where the trouble is sound, or mouse buttons, the problem may be with the VESA drivers, combined with XP/Vista. Just a guessing game from my point, but this was a problem for me in old days too, with Win3.1 and 95.

EDIT: I noticed Settlers 2 Gold edition is similar to S1. I am going on to that version next.
