every time I play the game recently it keeps crashing. I'm using WIN 98. It seems like everytime it hits $3 million it crashes either the whole computer or just the game. any way to help this?

Does that happen only with one save game or all the games you play?

I encountered such a problem once. Starting a new game solved the problem. Probably a corrupted save.

(looks at the screenshot)

I would hate to have to try and cross the tracks in that world. Wow.

I never make much with helicopters and planes..I like the trains and land rovers when possible. The boats can be alright too

That's a pity.
Planes are the perfect solution when your world becomes congested with tracks, buses and trains. It's sometimes hard to free the space for a large airport, but imo it's worth it. Planes are also great when your trains can't take all the passengers from the larges cities.

What a game this is! I haven't played it in years. I found it here and now i remember why i love it so much! Trains, buses and lorries are best to use at the start. As towns develop then you should use planes and boats

Thumbs up

So, uh... what exactly *is* up with the multiplayer mode, anyway? Or is that question going to continue to be ignored in here... javascript:emoticon(':tai:') :tai:

You know, there might be a way to put this a bit more politely... Anyway, for what it's worth, here's what the FAQ section of this page has to say about multiplayer:
Quote:
[2.2.2] Can I play TTD Multiplayer?

Yes, you may play via null-modem, modem, IPX or TCP/IP network.

For IPX, you may use either Novell IPX with LSL or Windows 95 IPX
compatible protocol.

For TCP/IP, a standard Windows driver will do. However, it is rather
unstable. It must be said though, that TCP/IP games are only available
with the Windows version of the game that comes with the Tycoon
Collection.

Note that if you're using the Patch, not all options / features of the Patch work. Notably the options that require you to use the CTRL-key won't work in multi-player mode.
Mind you, I have no idea what it's all about. If it doesn't help you, I suggest that you do a bit of googling.

Beats me too...I always thought it was a single player only game.

I didn't mean to be impolite, was just rather frustrating to read all 8 forum pages (noting that others had asked) and to find no response. Sorry 'bout that

Thank you for your help ...
