My favourite sequencing program is Sonar, but after formatting the hard drive, I can't reinstall it because of Direct X issues. So I'm using Cakewalk 9 at the moment. I bought a midi keyboard around Christmas (the very basic Creative Prodikeys) but I haven't tried using it with any computor software yet. I'm too lazy and uninspired lately. Naughty Wendy

oh man, hooking a keyboard up to Finale makes the music writing process soooo much faster! I swear I am able to move twice as fast as I was able to before.

@wendymaree: Cakewalk? I think that's what I have (but it's on the other computer, so I'm not sure, and it would be an issue to look).

I need help. I really want to record my songs onto my comp, and I don't know what program would be best for me to use.

I need something I can record vocals with a mic, hook up a keyboard to, and a guitar, that is fast enough that the delay isn't so bad the track is messed up. I need to be able to mix tracks, because I can't play everything at once, obviously. I also want to be able to apply smooth sounding effects to each track individually. And most of all, I want to be able to make the final product somewhat professional sounding.

If I sound like a complete retard by asking this, it's because I really am, heh. I write songs, and just don't know how to record them!!!

well, Finale can do that, although it's a little tricky to use until you get the hang of it, but it doesn't really mix songs. Finale is more of a music composition program (meaning it is used to transcribe music) and not a music mixer. You can hook a microphone into your computer and attatch it to an instrument (guitar, any wind instrument, voice, etc.) and it will write out the notes exactly as you play them, but like I said, no mixing (it also doesn't help that it costs like, a bajillion dollars)

Well, I use ACID and wavelab, and rebirth to make samples. But I'm not really good at it, so my tracks are quite... basic, but I'm still trying.

I use sibelius for school compositions and occasionally logic audio in school. Sibelius is a massive rip off. Over 600 quid which can only be installed on one computer at a time. Despite the high cost it still manages to crash and make me lose my work.

Mine is called Keyboard Music 2.22. You choose an instrument on it, then use the keyboard to compose the music. You type the music as it were.

I've been home recording for several years now with these program. I've had excellent results..... I've used these to record my friends band also.... we were able to come out with an "almost" studio sounding CD of his band. I couldnt believe how easy it was to compose as home.
