Hello,

I've currently problems with 'Loom' and 'Ringworld'.

I hate to say that, but... In order to capture snapshot of the games CTRL + F5 does not work... the capture folder remains empty.
Am I missing something?

Hi Shebnar....I am not a computer expert but I have played both Loom and Ringworld in Dosbox without any problems..I use a computer with Windows XP...If you install Dosbox STRICTLY AS PER INSTRUCTIONS you can run practically any of the old games without a hitch... Good Luck..SAL

Did you press both keys at the same time?
Are you using a non-US keyboard layout?

For good understanding: FIRST CTRL, hold it down and THEN F5
Otherwise it won't work.

And of course if you have such multimediacrap keyboard be sure that the Function keys are enabled.

Function keys are enabled, I press CTRL first, I hold it down and then I press F5... :amused: And the capture folder remains empty.

Open DOSBox.conf and see, under the [captures] heading, what folder is specified in the "captures=..." line. The screenshots created when pressing Ctrl+F5 should be there.

Also, what version of Windows are you using, and what kind of user account are you running DOSBox from? Where did you install DOSBox, was it in the default folder? When you try to take screenshots, what does the console say? (The console is the second window that DOSBox normally shows, visible if you don't use the main one in full screen.)

Hello,

this is what the DOSBox.conf says:

[dosbox]
# language -- Select another language file.
# memsize -- Amount of memory DOSBox has in megabytes.
# machine -- The type of machine tries to emulate:hercules,cga,tandy,pcjr,vga.
# captures -- Directory where things like wave,midi,screenshot get captured.

language=
machine=vga
captures=capture
memsize=16

I'm using WinXP Professional, DOSBox has been installed in the C:\Programs folder...

Well, I think I found out why it does not work... I'm opening games directly from their .exe files ... the problem is that when I drag their .exe into DOSBox it only get 'illegal command' in the DOS prompt. So DOSBox is not running.
Well, I'm going to uninstall everything and rerun it all... I hope it will get better next time... The problem is that I absolutely can't figure out what's gone wrong...

DOSBox is not a driver. It doesn't automatically start up when you run a DOS program.

The problem is that my guide was never meant for Drag & Drop.
Just put all your DOS games into subfolders of a single folder you mount as your C drive in DOSBox, set up DOSBox to automount it on startup, install Norton Commander and make DOSBox automatically start it... and that's it.

In other words, follow the guide.

BTW. Seems like part of one of the posts in it was erased somehow. I've replaced it now.

Don't follow several guides at the same time, they don't complement, they're alternative to each other. Choose one and stick to it.
