Thanks so much! I was brought up on DOS... It's been a long time, and now I'm using a Mac... Your guide was VERY helpful.

Keep up the awesome work!: 3:

so.. ive followed this tutorial up until the point where im downloading norton commander. where can i dl actual norton commander and NOT a "norton-commander-like" program? also- when i try to change the text in the DOSconf. file it wont allow me to save changes for some reason.

oh and i'm running Vista. It typically makes me want to smash my face into the keyboard.

anyone got any suggestions for me? im trying to run this game i remember liking as a kid called museum madness...
please! im just trying to recapture a small part of my childhood!!

thanks

You don't need Norton Commander to run DOSBox. You can still run it just fine without NC once you have the config file set up. However, since the links on this site to NC aren't working, you can find NC (English) here if you want to use it. It's a slow download, so be patient.

As for your file issue, right click on the file, select "Properties", and make sure it's not set to "Read Only". If it is, uncheck that box and click "Apply". Things should work fine then. If on the other hand, you can't save because an unknown program is using it, just do a quick restart of your PC, and the text file should be freed up.

Default Wow... just... wow

I dont usually waste time posting comments on random forums... but this one was worth it.

I've spent about 4-5 hours already today trying to get Monkey Island working on my DOSBOX, and every site I went to was a massive nerd trap.

I followed all your instructions, and well, jesus christ....

You... are.... GOD!!!!

Thank you for everything, I love you.

Hi, I just got registered here to ask for something that I just don't understand. (BTW Thanks, and great guide )
I've done everything that you have written, and when I just opened the installer for the game Ignition (I'm in love with this game) it worked perfectly, the screen opened the original game and I chose the languaje that I wanted. But then, when it finished, I tried to run the file that is the game itself from the Dosbox again, it said ''This program cannot be run in Dos mode''. The thing is that then I tried to run the game ''normally'' (out from the Dosbox) and it doesnt work, just like at the beginning. Then I tried to run again the installer, and it says: Not enough memory on exec.

Help please?
