I don't know how it was handled elsewhere, but when this title was released (at a discount) in the US, it was done without a manual. My understanding was that there is no obvious right way to do things. Plenty of wrong ways, though.

I've just stopped the plot to assasinate the President's son. When it was first announce he was visiting, a german terrorist was spotted in Ireland, so I put him under surveillance and pursuit, which led me to another, who i abducted, then to another, who i also abducted, and then to another who i tailed to a warehouse. I searched, and found ether and knuckle dusters. When ir ansacked it i also found czech machine guns and it was announced the plot had been foiled.

I have got a mission that is really bugging me, any help would be appreciated.

It is a toth mission, where i am supposed to protect the church of the subgenius.
Ive been trying almost everything, i think the right way is to assault the home of the victim between the murderer arrives and the victim arrives, but then the garciadude blows me up...

Church of Subgenious is one of the missions I don't know how to solve.

BTW, The "real" beating of the game happens when, instead of becoming PM (getting kicked out of Thoth, and "enjoying office while you can", you become the Grand Master of Thoth).

There are 7 ranks to go (6 advancements needed):

Accolyte
Scribe
Speaker
Moon Seeker
Ibis Master of the Inner Circle
Dusk Master
Grand Master

Each time you successfully complete a mission by Thoth you rise in rank. To bcome Grand Master, therefore, you need to beat at least 6 of them (any rank lower than Grand Master and you get kicked out of Thoth at the end). There are 7 Thoth missions overall, so you can only afford to screw one. In my case it was the Subgenious Church, so I had to complete all other missions (I admit that to achieve this ending I used a memory editor to freeze my rating at over 50%, so I didn't have to worry about PM missions; I did, however, honestly beat the "simple" PM ending, but did not become Grand Master).

If you manage to survive without being fired (keeping rating above 50%) or having Garcia visit by December 1st (the time when all game missions run out)you become Prime Minister, UNLESS you have successfully completed 6 Thoth missions before that, in which case you beat the game immediately in an honorary ending as Grand Master (if you screwed one Thoth mission and had to skip it, the timing will be near November anyways, but its possible a few months earlier if you beat the 6 missions in a row).

As well, becoming the Grand Master is the ONLY way to see your own face in-game!

Well, this is how i did it:
When you have searched the home of the leader of the wierd church, save the game.
Put the one that donates his money to the church under surveilence, and wait.
Some days later, you get a report that someone visited the donor.

It will state the donor left the house, the visitor arrived, the donor returned, the visitor left.
Take a note of the time the visitor arrived, and the time the donor returned, along with the date.
Now load your saved game and order a heavy assault on the noted date, on the time when only the visitor is at the house, before the donor returns.
Now, if your ´Garciarating´ is not too high, the mission will be done

Whoa, that's smart. Probably the most brainwork you are required to do in the game.

I gotta try it. I wonder what would happen if I manage to pass ALL 7 Thoth missions (rank after Grand Master?)

By the way, there is a semi-cheat way to survive Garcia (game bug):

If you get that chalk picture, and get a promt to restart or quit, don't press enter or space, but press "s". That will open up a menu of save game, etc. Then, press "cancel". Your garcia session will be skipped and you will be at your office door again.

Note: You will still have your "garciarating" of under 0, so every time at the start of a new day, when you enter your office, when you change departments, or when you click on "Next Day" you'll get another 13 storey flight and will have to repeat the procedure. This can make your days painstalkingly long. At least this doesnt happen while you do things in any one department (or your office). Save once in a while, because it's easy to forget and press enter or space at a flight scene, kicking you out of the game.

This is going to last until eventually your garciarating will rise above 0 (can take up to several month, depending on how severe was your last action (will take a good 3 months if, just after getting a final warning from the PM, you order a heavy assault on a VIP)). But sooner or later you'll be tolerated again and can continue your missions without garcia.

In the same way, using the "s" key, you can surpass the Thoth coronation and continue playing. Interestingly enough, once you become PM, you will then be kicked out of Thoth, even if you became Grandmaster already.

This won't work in allowing you to play past becoming PM though.

BTW has anyone figured out a meaning to those seemingly random office building scenes before the start of a new day? They take time and are annoying.

They seems to appear when a day has been skipped, ie when there are no reports and the date jumps from, say, 15 to 17.

Btw, this is one of the most buggy games i have played :angry:
I finished all seven toth missions, but was not given credit for some of them so i still only became "Ibis Master of the Inner Circle".

Hi there.

I tried Floor 13 with WinXP and it runs fine. However, I tried to make some screenshots (print screen button), but it didn't work.

Is there another way to make screens in Floor 13?

I figured it out myself. The combination of running the game with dosbox and capturing the screen with "Simple Screenshot" did it.
