The games that you mentioned are console, I think only XIII is a famous game that uses cell( And I feel as though point n' click is more or less reserved for PCs...

![]() You're right there, they were just things that came to mind. There's a couple of other games for the PC in production with it I think.

![]() I love my Fallout 2 guy, he cruises around the desert in his highwayman (game would be even better if you could get a harley bike :P), wearing a leather jacket and unloading his uzi into the faces of unsuspecting losers who get in my way.
The new Fallout game is being made by Bethesda who I trust not to mess it up. |

![]() I've just heard(might be a known fact for others), that they're going to use TESIV:Oblivion engine, so no point n' click, that's for sure...

![]() You asked if I want p&c adventures? Absolutely YES!
I NEED new old-style point & click adventures! Fortunately now there are the guys of "Autumn Moon Entertainment" that are developing "A vampyre story" and the "Tell Tale" working on "Bone : Out From Boneville"! And someone remember Tim Schafer? Now he founded the Doublefine Productions that developed Psychonauts! These are all ex-Lucas programmers! They worked on Monkey Island series, Full throttle, The Dig, Grim Fandango... We can espect only the best from them!!! |

Kids?....Good old days? i just wanted to know how old are you guys anyways? LOL [/b][/quote] Well I am only 17. But when I was 8 or so I remember finishing King's Quest 4 and Monkey Island 1 and half of Monkey Island 2 all by myself. Last year I was in some internet cafe and I saw a bunch of 8 year old having trouble understanding how to play Counter Strike and similar games, if they can't solve the basic controls of Counter Strike how in the world are they going to remember the answer to nearly every insult in insult swordfighting? |

![]() Sadly I don't think they will ever bring them back.
Point 'n Click adventures used to be my diet with regards to games. Ironically games like Half Life etc. supposedly all the "greatest game ever made" comments by reviewers, just flew over my radar. Heck, I only found out that there was a game called Half-Life because of a mod called Counter-Strike and that was after playing Counter-Strike for quite a while (Of course I am talking about Counter-Strike before Valve got their claws into it, and made winning the lottery an easier task than trying to get a headshot, and slowed the game and basically removed jumping that I thought I was playing "Snail-Strike" or Worms, but thats a story for another time) I wouldn't say point 'n click adventures are dead, because they are not, but they will never be the popular genre they once were. At least there are still fanmade remakes going on that might one day revive the ole dog. What drives the computer game industry - hardware and graphics. It's as simple as that. Games like Doom 3 (aiming for technical achievements) will continue to be the norm, until graphics get to a point where they cannot be made to look any prettier. Adventures were never about the graphics, the sounds ... they all about the characters, puzzles and ultimately about the story. Until that time I think we can only hope that developers like revolution and funcom continue to produce the odd adventure games, but point 'n click seems to be a distant memory now. I just laugh every time I read a review or hear people telling me that Half-Life 1,2,3 or what ever FPS seems to be popular at the moment is just the greatest game ever made. My mortal enemy of course is people that love single player FPS games. It's no surprise of course, because they are the ones that usually review the odd adventure game that does come out and only help to add a few more daggers into the back of the adventure game genre. They wouldn't know a good game if someone had to shove it down their one track narrow-minded skulls. It's all the same from them, "The graphics arn't great, the puzzles are too hard, the sound is only okay, but at least the story and the characters are fun" - I mean DUH ... that's what makes a great adventure game. |
