![]() In the good old days, the diabolical program named Windows was not yet created. The system used back then was DOS, a text-based program that gave you access to your entire harddisk.
Then Bill Gates decided to %&#@ it all up, by making Windows. DOS was still the major system, but Windows grew bigger and bigger and it swallowed DOS completely in the end. The thing about DOS is that it is more stable, and very seldom makes an error. (I have never heard about the program making an error... anyone?) Windows as we all know is extremely buggy (at best) and have this habit of restarting your machine - causing you to loose all you have worked on. <_< Very many games were created in the old days, and most of them were made for DOS. With the new Windows versions (without DOS - just a stupid buggy clone of DOS) these games cannot be played. This is were DOSBox comes in. It emulates DOS on your machine, and enables you to play all of these great games once more! Yay!

![]() Well said Tom Henrik!
Dos was so much better, I mean is there a point in windows? I mean was the point of it to make it more user friendly by creating more bugs? Arg! Makes me angry just thinking about it. If you need help working DosBox be sure to drop me a line, I've been using it and its great, I can finally play QFG3 WITH sound. btw, newbie on campus.

![]() I'm just wondring if there are any way to make dosBOX a non -86 and just dos emulator? Or if there is a "just DOS" emulator out there?
I don't want to play game at their minimum requirements just because I do not have DOS.. |

![]() I thionk Tom pretty much hit the nail on the head there. I like DOSBOX for it's screenshot capturing capabilitys. I do wish there was a prog to emulate buggy WIN95 games(a.k.a. Ace Ventura, Z, etc.) on an WIN2000 or XP system, though.
