![]() I tried the game twice and couldn't hold out more than 5min after creating the character.
It takes a lifetime to scroll the view and turn around. |

![]() Speed it up! The game is not supposed to be slow at all by default, and DOSBox has its functions, y'know.
CTRL + F12.

![]() I supposed you would know the Ctrl+F12 thing.
This game runs in real mode so DOSBox assigns it 3,000 cycles. Cleary way too little for a 3D game. EDIT: I've been testing different DOSBox settings. I'm finally sticking with core=dynamic and cycle=max. Actually I think the game runs a little too fast in my computer then (although I don't really know how was it supposed to run), with maximum detail depth--though you can get used to playing that fast, and that could also happen with a fast real DOS machine. My experience in this particular game is that if you try to fine-tune the cycles to get the perfect speed, it will then run too slow or too fast in different locations.

![]() Thanks so much for having this game. Brings back alot of good memories of playing this years ago! Was such a fun game! Also, the door sound you hear in dungeons, you can also hear in some movies...used to make my friends and I laugh! Ive prolly played every class in the game, and the one to me that became the most fun was the sorcerer. Once you get your spells and get them maxed out...its amazing what you can do. I walked thru the very end of it up to Jagar and the fun commenced haha.
To bad Daggerfall isnt coming out anytime soon. I was never able to beat it due to bugs in the main quest...was fun as well. |

![]() jmccrea70,
You could always torrent Daggerfall. Abandonware is illegal too anyway, even if it's "nicer morally". So yeah... You can always do that instead of waiting (it may take quite some time). It's an awesome game. Oh, and damn - you really made me urge to play Arena again now! And I have to thank you, as it is totally worth it.

![]() Bethesda should really make Daggerfall available for download from their site like Arena. It's almost impossible to get hold of a copy nowadays - I still have my 1996 CD but it's scratched and doesn't work anymore
Interestingly Daggerfall had some really raunchy in-game books that were censored in Morrowind, like The Real Barenziah. |

![]() Regarding the sound problem, here are the instructions I found in a version I downloaded somewhere ages ago. Worked for me
1. Select “Configure Game”. 2. Select “Select Sound Card”. A list will appear. Select “Sound Blaster or SB16 (or compatible)” 3. Select “Select Music Card” and do the same. 4. In yellow letters near the top of the screen, it should say: “Sound Blaster or SB16 (or compatible) IO:220 IRQ:7 DMA:1” for both Sound and Music. If it does not, please enter the info in under both “Change Sound default” and Change music default. Select Done, and then Exit. |

![]() Hi, I'm new to the game and I'm stuck on a strategy for finding my way around. I took a side quest to find and kill a troll before a certain date. The troll's lair is rumored to be North East of the village I'm in, but the location is not clear. How are you supposed to find it?
I have searched the whole country side North East of the village for a week and a half(real time) and I'm running out time to fulfill the quest. Is this the right strategy for such a quest? Do you just run around and hope you stumble on it? There doesn't seem to be any way to ask for directions to it or get rumors about it...so could someone please tell me what I might be missing in the search. Thanks, szaemon |
