I remember such a game on the C 64. In german it's "Hexenküche". I think the english name is "Cauldron".

Thanks for the effort, But like i said it wasn't a side scroller,
It was a point and click.
and the name was more along the lines of "revenge of the moon" something a bit more arty and scary.
It was no kids game i'll tell you that.
