Thumbs up

I've tried downloading Space Quest 2, King's Quest 1, and Police Quest 1 but none of them could finish unzipping. Space Quest 1 worked fine, so I was wondering if something was wrong with the files. I use Mac OSX, so zip files automatically unzip themselves and place the folders on the desktop. The weird thing is that it always gets to a certain point and then can't finish. It gets to the VOL.2 file with SQ2 and then keeps trying to decompress the rest without any success.

Try upgrading your winzip or winrar version to a higher one, and that should hopefully help out the problems.

OSX doesn't use Winzip or Winrar. It just automatically unzips .zip files once they finish downloading. I'm just wondering if certain files may be corrupt. That could be what's causing the trouble. I have no idea, actually. Just trying to sound like I have any idea what I'm talking about. ^^;;;

This is obviously caused because the version of your unzipping program is not high enough to cope with the new zipping methods.

Update your drivers/programs and the problem will be solved.

I just tried downloading Space Quest 3, 4, and 5. All 3 of them worked right away while Space Quest 2 continues to not work. It can't be that my unzipping program isn't up-to-date.

All those games probably been zipped by different persons. If one person have a version lower or equal to yours then there is no problem, but if the one who zipped the second part of the serie had a higher version then it's probably why you can't unzip it.

I just downloaded the game and unzipped it without problem. I continue to think you should update your program/drivers to a more current version. I myself use WinAce 2.11 for .zip and WinRar 3.42 for .rar.

This is gonna sound stupid, but how do you update the zip driver/programs? I've been without a computer since the DOS days and I'm not up to date. Can it be downloaded?

Do a Yahoo or Google search for each. If you are not sure just add "win" in front of the extention (i.e. Winzip, Winrar) and it should give you the most popular unarchivers.

thanks for the help. I did a search and found winzip 9.0. It worked fine and I got the game up and running. There is some slowdown but I think I know how to fix it.
