I'm looking for decent mech (either simulation or strategy) games that allow the player to customize their machine(s).
If possible, also ones where the mecha are smaller then in MechWarrior... I'm looking for something closer to the powered armor suits in Fallout (altough a bit more kickass than that, obviously!)

Finally, anime style is welcome, though not neccesary.

I used to love the mech genre, here's some of my old favorites:

Earthseige 1 & 2 (closer to Mechwarrior games)
Starsiege
G-nome
Heavy Gear 1 & 2 (These are more like powered suits than big mechs, like you wanted)
Shogo:Mobile Armor Division (Heavy anime atmosphere, awsome game)


Those are the ones that come to mind, they were all pretty fun IMO.
