Default Mystic Towers

I have very very little memory of this game...mind you I played it back in 1994-1995 range. That is not a reliable means of tracking whenever the game was released though.

I remember...I think it took place in some mansion. It was a large building anyhow and I think you had to travel deeper and deeper into it? I remember you were an older man as the main character. There were monsters involved in it...um...I believe there was food as a healing source and on occasion you could get food poisoning. I also remember...there was some status condition that would make him spin in circles a bit and become hard to control. There was also a status condition that reversed all of your commands (ie. left=right). Overall, I would say his animations were a little wacky and a bit funny.

As far as the interface went, I vaguely remember you having to click on an arrow pad that was provided so you could move. I do not think you could play with the arrow keys on the keyboard itself. Don't hold me to that though.

To get to other rooms, there were "doors" that looked like arcs...and if memory serves me right, monsters could in fact pass through the doorways as well into other rooms. These monsters too were also pretty unique to say the least.

As far as your own combat went...I can't say I remember well. I want to say you worked off of a magic bar and that the old man had a dorky wooden staff...but I can't entirely remember because I was little...more than anything I remember trying to run away from everything because I was scared, Hahah!! But the monsters did have an animation if they attacked you. It was all real-time play I guess you can say. It was not based off turns or anything of the such. I would classify it more of an adventure-puzzle game. Perhaps a bit of horror for younger kids...?

I also remember...lol...you could get water from misc. fountains...but I forget the purpose. The camera view was also non-rotatable so I suppose it'd best fit a 2D description. The coloring on the game was also fair. It WAS NOT single colored...

I saw one example of a game that looked slightly similar to the format of the map you moved around on (mainly the doorways)...but it was in the all-games list and was only a picture...I can try to find that example again if it helps at all...I would have no clue if it is the same developers though.

If anyhow can help jot my memory, that would be awesome @@ I want to say there may have even been a part 2 of the game as well. In fact I am nearly positive there was but I never played it as it was only an advertisement. Sorry if my descriptions are poor...^^; I gave it my best...it has been quite a while, so...

Oh! One last thing...I did not play it by opening windows. I am 90% positive it would be DOS

Two games come to mind:
-Don't Go Alone
-The Legacy: realm of Terror

Hm...I tried looking up the suggestions so far and none of them look right. (Sorry for the late reply, the internet went down.)

Perspective...how can I explain it...
First off, it is nothing like Blood or Doom etc. That is thinking far too fancy. You have a view down on your character.

It works moreso off of a grid system. The map you played on was on a slant. That is to say you did not move left-right-up-down. Instead, you moved NE-NW-SE-SW. (Hopefully that makes sense?) ...

If you look at Chip's Challenge, that is what I mean by grid-system I guess. You moved 1-tile at a time and it was very visible that they were tiles. However, Chip's Challenge in itself is NOT a good example of how the game looked. Not at all.

Oh! Thanks so much for the help so far ^^

Mystic Towers seems to fit the bill.
